Ambio Reader — Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Ambio Reader ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Ambio Reader mobile application and the website at ambio.cloud/reader. We've tried to keep it short and plain. This policy applies only to Ambio Reader; other Ambio products have their own policies.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password. Authentication is provided by Supabase, our backend platform.
Reading content (transient)
To match ambient soundscapes to what you're reading, short excerpts of the current page are sent to our AI provider for scene analysis. These excerpts are processed in real time and not stored on our servers after the analysis completes.
Subscription and purchase information
Subscription status is managed through RevenueCat, which integrates with the Apple App Store and Google Play. We do not see, store, or process your payment card details — those stay with the store.
Device and diagnostic information
We may collect basic non-identifying technical data such as device type, OS version, app version, and crash reports, used solely to diagnose problems and improve the app.
2. How we use your information
- To create and authenticate your account.
- To analyse what you're reading and play matching ambient sounds.
- To deliver and verify your subscription.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To diagnose crashes and improve the app.
3. Who we share information with
We share data only with the service providers necessary to operate Ambio Reader:
- Supabase — account auth and storage.
- RevenueCat — subscription management.
- Our AI scene-analysis provider — to match sound to text.
- Resend — to deliver transactional emails (verification, password reset).
We do not sell your personal information to anyone, ever.
4. Storage and retention
Account data is retained while your account is active. Reading excerpts sent for scene analysis are processed transiently and discarded. You may delete your account at any time from inside the app, which will remove your account data from our systems.
5. Your rights
You can access, export, or delete your account data at any time by emailing [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA — including the right to access, correct, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data.
6. Children
Ambio Reader is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have, please contact us and we will remove it.
7. Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect your data: TLS in transit, encrypted storage at rest, and hashed passwords. No system is perfect — please use a strong, unique password.
8. Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
